Wiki

Hector Ramirez Wiki

Hector "Sick Dog" Ramirez made his professional MMA debut on July 26, 2003 in a 4-man tournament, which he won. He compiled a record of 6-1-1 before getting the call up to the UFC. His only hiccups were against Rashad Evans and then a draw with Emanuel Newton.

During that stretch he defeated a very young Kendall Grove by KO in round 1.

He lost his UFC debut to James Irvin at UFC 65. He started strong against Irvin but eventually withered and Irvin dropped him mid way through the second, and finished it with a kick to the body. After that, with the LHW division being so shallow, he got another chance, this time in the CO-Main Event of UFC 72 against Forrest Griffin. Sick dog fought valiantly but couldn't really mount anything and dropped a decision. He was cut later that year.

He's been inconsistent in the later parts of his career, going 3-2 since leaving the UFC with solid wins over Rob MacDonald, Rick Roufus, and Matti Makela. His most recent outing saw him get submitted with an armbar in the 1st round against fellow UFC veteran Jason Lambert.

-Side-Notes

*Currently holds the Pit Fighting LHW Championship.

*2-time JC All-American wrestler, later went on to coach for a few years which got him the 2004 coach of the year award.
